As 9/11 approaches....I would like to share this prayer

As 9/11 approaches....I would like to share this prayer
Now I lay me down to sleep...one less terrorist this world does keep...with all my heart I give my thanks...to those in uniform regardless of ranks...you serve our country and serve it well...with humble hearts your stories tell...so as I rest my weary eyes...while freedom rings our flag still flies...you give your all, do what you must...with God we live and God we trust.... God bless all our troops and the ones that have served!
Thanks to Dennis for sharing this.

Where were you?

Where were you?  I'm certain you remember, just like you (or your parents) remember what they were doing when John F Kennedy was assassinated , or when the astronauts on the space shuttle lost their life.  Fortunately, I was undergoing a surgical procedure at Baptist Hospital and sleeping nicely with the administration of anesthesia.

My first recollection was of medical staff in the recovery room being very emotional.  I was certain that I must be in critical condition..after all, the world does revolve around me.  I remember someone telling me to go back to sleep, that I was having a bad dream.  It was two days before the reality of the attack on our country became real to me.  For weeks during my recopeeration  I watched news reports, almost 24/7.  The only assistance I could provide was that of prayer, lots of prayer.  Finally, I made contact with a group who were making boots for the search and rescue dogs, to protect their pads.  I began to help in that effort.

Many military friends were put on alert, and soon departed to do their part to set up protection of our country.  Today, I am so thankful that we live in a country knowing we have the best and most dedicated military.  I encourage everyone to include in prayer our leaders, military and their families for protecting our freedoms.

We must never forget this attack on the values we hold so dear, the souls lost on that day, and those who have since given their lives to protect our freedoms.  Pray for our country as we approached this 10th anniversary of these attacks.  May God bless each and every one.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET September 11, 2001

American girls and American guys, will always stand up and salute.
We'll always recognize, when we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our heads.
My daddy served in the army where he lost his right eye,
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me.
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love is fallin' under attack.
A mighty sucker-punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man, we lit up your world like the fourth of July.

Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you.
Ah, brought to you, courtesy of the red, white and blue.

Oh, justice will be served and the battle will rage:
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage.
An' you'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A.
'Cos we'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way.

Oh, oh.
Of the red, white and blue.
Oh, hey, oh.
Of my Red, White and Blue.
